How do I attend an FFD meeting?

FFD club meetings are open to the public.  Our meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month — social begins at 7:00 PM, and the general meeting starts at 7:30 PM.

Who are the Fly Fishers of Davis?

Fly Fishers of Davis (FFD) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization with 100+ members from communities in the central Sacramento valley.  Our charter is to promote the art of fly-fishing and to protect our natural resources and fisheries through community education and conservation.  FFD is an affiliate of the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF), an international non-profit organization and its Northern California Council (NCCFFF).  Our meetings and membership are open to the public, and we provide equal opportunity membership without any discrimination.

What happens at the meetings?

Our monthly meetings typically include the following:

  • An introduction of new members, and reports on who has been fishing.
  • A guest speaker who narrates a presentation covering some aspect of fly-fishing or conservation.
  • An available library of books and videos for members to sign out.
  • Updates on where to fish, club activities, outings, and conservation projects.

What are other club activities?

Our club is an exciting, educational and rewarding fly-fishing experience for friends of all ages.  Activities include:

  • Fly fishing outings throughout California. For insurance purposes, you must be a club member to participate.  Visit our Outings page for details.

How do members keep up on club news?

All members receive the club’s monthly newsletter, “The Fisherman’s Line.”  To check out the latest issue, please visit the Newsletters page, where you’ll also find all the back issues.

Do our members ever get skunked on a fishing trip?

Never! (Though, as highly trained professionals, we never admit it.)

How is the club run?

FFD is run by an all-volunteer and very wise board of directors.  Board meetings are held monthly, where all club business and social activities are discussed and voted upon in detail.

What does it cost to join FFD?

Yearly dues for adults and families are $30/year.  Yearly dues for students are $15/year.
